Alaska Community Foundation gives $20,000 to TCC leadership program

The Alaska Community Foundation is giving $20,000 to the Tanana Chiefs Conference Leadership for Results Program, TCC announced Wednesday. The next cohort begins Nov. 17, 2026.

ACF President and CEO Alex McKay appeared with Tiffany Simmons, TCC's executive director of Tribal Government & Tribal Services.

The program runs through TCC's Learning and Development Department. Participants identify a community need and build a project around it. Past projects covered community wellness, early childhood development and family well-being, and men's mentorship.

TCC represents 42 Interior communities, including 37 federally recognized Tribes, across 235,000 square miles. It serves more than 10,000 Alaska Natives. Its third cohort graduated in Fairbanks on April 30.

ACF has funded TCC before, including $20,000 for hunting and fishing management advocacy.

Some Interior advocates say such training needs stronger tribal authority over health, education, and hunting and fishing rights.
