Anchorage firm wins $501,129 in GSA repair work at Florida federal buildings

Katmai Integrated Solutions of Anchorage won $501,129 in federal repair contracts this week, all for General Services Administration buildings in Florida. The awards are part of a federal contracting business that prior reporting says tops $200 million, with its largest presence in that state.

GSA awarded $463,684 on Aug. 27 for urgent cooling tower repairs at the Charles Bennett Federal Building. That work runs through Dec. 25. A second contract, $37,445 awarded Aug. 25, covers a guard shack renovation at the Golden Collum Courthouse in Ocala. That job runs through Dec. 10.

GSA records list Katmai as a small business and Alaska Native corporation owned firm. The Ouzinkie village corporation, near Kodiak, owns the company. Katmai's MAS 8(a) Pool participation ends Sept. 30, 2026, though its GSA contract runs through Oct. 25, 2038.

Kevin Berry, speaking at a Commonwealth North panel in May, said profits from such contracts return to Alaska through corporate headquarters. A 2009 Senate office summary reported critics saying such preferences reduce competition and hurt small businesses.
