Anchorage firm wins $34,232 GSA contract for court seals at Memphis federal building

The General Services Administration's Public Buildings Service has awarded a $34,232 contract to Chitina Diversified Services LLC, an Anchorage firm, for work on U.S. Court seals at the Odell Horton Federal Building in Memphis. Performance runs Sept. 2 to Dec. 2, 2026. None of the work occurs in Alaska.

Chitina is an SBA 8(a)-certified Alaska Native Corporation subsidiary. It has won more than $47 million across 16 tracked federal awards, including a $7.4 million repair contract at Knoxville's Howard H. Baker Jr. courthouse and earlier Tennessee jobs previously covered by Alaska News.

The 8(a) program that made this contract possible traces to a federal set-aside mechanism for minority-owned businesses. Nicole Borromeo told a May 26 Commonwealth North panel in Anchorage that the federal government "has allowed American Indians and Alaska Natives to participate in federal contracting through a special set-aside."

The Memphis building itself has drawn separate federal scrutiny. Rep. Steve Cohen objected after GSA listed the Odell Horton Federal Building among more than 400 properties considered for divestment, warning of chaos and taxpayer costs. GSA later took the list down.
