Alaska LNG updates landowner complaint procedure before construction
Alaska LNG has filed a revised procedure for handling environmental complaints from landowners during future pipeline construction and right-of-way restoration.
The Sept. 15 filing updates the company's landowner phone numbers and email addresses. It also changes the promised response time. The version filed in February said a representative would attempt to call back the next business day. The revision says a representative will respond within two business days.
The earlier version said a land representative would personally keep the caller informed. The revision replaces that language with a general commitment to provide updates about the progress and expected schedule for resolving a concern.
The three-step process otherwise remains intact. Landowners would contact the project first, use a separate company escalation line if the concern remains unresolved and then contact FERC's Landowner Helpline if they are still dissatisfied.
FERC's 2020 authorization order requires written approval of the procedure and requires Alaska LNG to mail it before construction to each landowner whose property the route will cross. No approval or rejection appeared in the public docket as of Sept. 20.
Construction has not begun. Alaska LNG's August status report describes current field surveys as planning work and says no active pipeline construction is underway.
