A Kodiak homeowner takes his flooded yard to the borough board

A Kodiak homeowner is tired of watching his yard flood, and he's taking it to the borough. Jeff Trenery, who lives on Lilly Drive, told the Kodiak Island Borough Service Area No. 1 Board that road drainage from Eider Street runs uphill through his property, behind his house and into a ditch, where "the pipe is only 18 inches and it clogs very often," flooding his yard severely. He wants the borough to clean and maintain the drainage.

A neighbor on Lilly Drive, Jill Wittenbrader, has a separate complaint before the same board Tuesday. Neither has been decided.

Drainage is a familiar headache in the service area. At a February meeting, board members raised concerns about water seeping into roadways, and Chair Scott Arndt said one borough stretch of Selief Lane "should never have been approved due to the culvert having the wrong specs." The board meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Assembly Chambers.
