A California woman was summonsed for hit and run on a parked car in Healy
A 21-year-old California woman was issued a summons for leaving the scene of an accident after knowingly hitting a parked vehicle in Healy without reporting it, Alaska State Troopers said. Troopers received the report at 3:52 am Saturday. Alcohol was considered a contributing factor.
Alaska law requires a driver who hits an unattended vehicle to stop and make reasonable efforts to locate the owner, or to leave written contact information and an account of the circumstances, so the owner can identify who is responsible for insurance, repairs or civil claims. Violations are punishable as the equivalent of a class B misdemeanor.
The dispatch does not say whether the parked vehicle's owner has been identified, or give a court date. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
