Next is special order of business. Are there any disclosures.
Hearing? None. We will move on to the public hearings.
First I'll read. The procedure by which the public may speak to the commission at its meetings is one. After staff presentation is completed on public hearing items, the chair will ask for public testimony on the issue. Persons who wish to testify will follow the time limits established in the Commission rules of procedure. Petitioners, including his or her representatives, will receive 10 minutes.
Part of this time may be reserved for rebuttal. Representatives of groups, community councils, PTAs, et cetera, will receive five minutes.
Excuse me. Individuals will receive three minutes. When your testimony is complete, you may be asked questions by the Commission. You may only testify once on any issue unless questioned by the Commission. Commission recommendations to the Anchorage assembly are not appealable.
Next. First case 2026 0059. May we please have a staff presentation? Thank you. Chair.
This is a rezone request initiated by the owner to amend the Zoning map for one lot from R5 Low Density Residential District to R3 Mixed Residential District. The Planning and Zoning Commission will provide the recommendation to the assembly on this rezone request. The assembly is the decision making body for rezonings. The department received no public comments against the rezoning. The department also received no reviewing agency comments in opposition.
The Abbott Loop Community Council received notice and did not comment. The department find the rezone request meets all three approval criteria for an abbreviated rezone and therefore recommends the Planning and Zoning Commission provide an approval recommendation for the rezone request to R3 to the assembly. I am available for questions of staff and the owner and his representative are here tonight to speak. Thank you.
Any questions for staff.
Hearing? None. We will open the public hearing. May we please have the petitioner's testimony?
Hello. My name is Kate Sove. S A U V E. This is an abbreviated rezone. I'm just here to answer any questions you might have. You have 9 minutes and 57 seconds for rebuttal.
Are there any questions for the petitioner hearing? None. We'll now invite the public to come forward. Anyone from the public wishing to testify, please step forward.
Okay.
Would you like to use your 9? Okay. We will yield the 9 minutes and 57 seconds. Close the public hearing. What is the will of the body?
Commissioner Polis, would you like to state your motion? Yeah. I move in case 20260059 to recommend to the Anchorage assembly approval of the rezone of one parcel from R5 district to R3 district. That was seconded by Commissioner Eber. Commissioner Polis, would you like to speak to your motion?
Yeah. I agree with the department recommendations that the proposed rezone meets the three approval criteria. I'll also note that no public or agency opposition to the rezone was heard.
Anybody else wishing to speak to the motion hearing? None will call for the vote.
That motion passes.
Next item. Are there any committee reports, Any Title 21 discussions? We'd like to have.
Any commissioner comments.
All right. We'll entertain a motion to adjourn.
That is moved and seconded. We are adjourned.
