Mike Dunleavy

This is a fantastic day for Alaska. This is Governor Mike Dunleavy. I'm here with Congressman Begich and Senator Sullivan. We just spent about an hour and a half with the President of the United States and his cabinet going over the great things that have just happened for this Alaska natural gas pipeline. Our South Korean allies are partners now.

They are providing a lot of funding for this, upwards of $50 billion plus, in partnering with the United States of America and the state of Alaska. We are thrilled about what has occurred here, and we are looking forward to decades and decades and decades of natural gas for Alaskans. You know, teamwork is so important, and we've got a great team. We've got folks that have been working on this for more than a decade, right? Senator Sullivan worked on this when he was DNR commissioner and as AG.

The governor has been working on this every year that he's been governor, even before he was governor. But big things take time. They take persistence. They take consistent energy. And we have a window right now where relationships that have been built over years and years are paying enough for the state of Alaska.

It's important for people to understand things like this don't just happen. It takes a lot of work behind the scenes with big teams and big ideas to move the ball forward, and we're doing that here today. Yeah, I want to just reiterate what Governor Dunleavy said and Congressman Begich. Really important day for Alaska. The problem, the challenge of the gas line and the LNG project in our state— we've been trying to get this done for 50 years— is how to finance that pipeline.

Well, I think we have Solution today with the investments from the trade deal that the administration negotiated with Korea on their investments in the Alaska LNG project and the gas line, over $50 billion signed by the president of the United States and the president of Korea last week and announced today with all of us. This is the project we've all been waiting for, working on. This is the project that's going to keep our kids and grandkids staying in Alaska because it's going unleash so many opportunities, not just low cost for Alaskans in terms of energy and our schools and our hospitals and our small businesses, but huge opportunities that can be unleashed when your state, when our great state has 100 years of low-cost energy to rely on. Sky's the limit for Alaska. We're going to get this done.

Today was a huge day in that regard.
