Speaker A

Whereas Memorial Day is a solemn occasion dedicated to honoring the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice to service to our nation. And whereas these courageous individuals answered the call to serve with honor, courage, and selflessness, placing the welfare of others above themselves. Whereas the residents of the Mat-Su Borough recognize the tremendous sacrifice made not only by these, our fallen heroes, but also by the families, friends, and communities who continue to carry their memory forward. And whereas Memorial Day provides an opportunity for all Americans to reflect upon the cost of freedom, to honor those who never reached —home and to recommit ourselves to preserving the principles for which they fought. And whereas the Matsu Borough proudly joins communities across the nation in remembering and paying tribute to those who gave their lives in defense of the United States of America.
