He then moved into the Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility as the engineering director and quickly became the general manager and was appointed by Mayor Fink. He was the longest-serving general manager at Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility with over 20 years of service, 6 municipal administrations, and he really set the utility on the path where we are today. With his forward thinking, his strategy, looking at the big picture. He was always looking 10 years down the road, 20 years down the road, and not only for Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utility, which was his baby for many years, and the building that we are petitioning to get named after him was where he consolidated the entire headquarters of the utility. He was also instrumental in purchasing our operations and maintenance campus over on King Street.
