The hope was that that might be a good City Hall location at the time. The building has been empty since 2022. On May 10th, 2026, the city clerk received an application to purchase the Griffin Building from Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, and on May 26th, 2026, the clerk received a joint application from the Kodiak Historical Society and the Kodiak Maritime Museum to lease the building. The clerk announced receipt of these applications during comments on June 11th, 2026, regular council meeting, and following the announcement, uh, clerk published a notice of these applications in the paper 3 times over a 45-day period ending on August 3rd, 2026, and at the conclusion of that 45-day period, no additional applications to purchase or lease the property were received.
