“We asked for this method and model review in full knowledge that there are more sablefish in the water now than there has been any time since the 1970s, and that the biomass is increasing. In other words, there's no conservation issue, and it seems like there really is time to more fully evaluate these proposed changes.”

Start by saying we support the motions from the SSC and the AP and asking that the stock assessment authors explore alternative methods and models for consideration in December as the basis for the 2026 sablefish assessment and '27 specification process. My understanding is that all the models in the AP motion were identified by the SSC for another review, although one was only for sensitivity analysis, and I think they didn't reference the phase-in, but I will let the SSC clarify those details. It just sounds like there may be some confusion around that. Um, we, we asked for this method and model review in full knowledge that there are more sablefish in the water now than there has been any time since the 1970s, and that the biomass is increasing. In other words, there's no conservation issue, and it seems like there really is time to more fully evaluate these proposed changes.
