The number of Juneauites over 65 has dramatically increased over the years, while the number of citizens under 35 has significantly decreased, and there are 1,000 less students enrolled in Juneau Public Schools compared to when I was a student. This is due to the 500% increase in the price of single-family homes since 1990. Currently, it takes extraordinary circumstances for any young person to become a first-time homebuyer in Juneau.
