A successful demonstration near Unalaska or Akutan, both adjacent to active volcano systems, could change the energy economies of entire regions. Less diesel dependence, less supply chain vulnerability, and less energy poverty in some of the most remote areas of North America. Mr. Chairman, this committee has a strong record on American energy leadership, and the Geopower Act extends that record. The bill is fiscally responsible. It is performance-based, and it opens the door for rural and remote communities that have long sought affordable, reliable power.
