Most of us live near the park. We use the park, we value the park, and we see the park as an asset for the whole Anchorage community. And we see the creation of the board as a positive step for realizing the goals of CASA, which is providing capital improvements that support access to the park and ameliorating the neighborhood effects of access by park users, which we generally see as benefiting everyone. And we see creation of the board as a means for balancing the needs of the neighborhoods and the city as a whole. When there are conflicts between these goals, while it certainly calls for deliberation in the public interest, we do not believe a small number of people should be able to leverage a large number of people by withholding entering into cooperative agreements.
