So as a rural federally qualified hunter, trapper, and fisherman, this is actually one of my most important priorities. Subsistence to me doesn't mean just putting dry meat, smoked fish in the pantry. It's the actions of getting outdoors, These are 100% key to staying connected with the land and water and having a positive outlook on life. To me, improving salmon returns is one of my key goals, so I co-sponsored Cronk's anti-trawl bill in the House to benefit our upper river villages, and I regularly engage with trawlers and our commercial folks, happy to always push back on their sustainability claims. As biologists, I have no problem pointing out their impacts on our returning kings and chums, both in size and number, Last year I sponsored a bill to ensure that we put all consumptive use of our fisheries over commercial fishing.
