“I think kind of where I'm getting hung up is with that 1 mil rate reduction, and I personally myself would like to see us keep the 1 mil rate and then look at how House Bill 13 could help support our year-round residents through that reduction if it's a primary home and/or supporting owners of short-term rentals that may want to become long-term rental units.”

Even though their structure was a little bit different because it's the borough versus, versus the city of Seward, there is some really interesting data points in there, as well as industry support for something of this nature. So in my mind, I think it makes sense for the seasonal sales tax. I think kind of where I'm getting hung up is with that 1 mil rate reduction, and I personally myself would like to see us keep the 1 mil rate and then look at how House Bill 13 could help support our year-round residents through that reduction if it's a primary home and/or supporting owners of short-term rentals that may want to become long-term rental units. What that looks like, I'm not 100% sure at this point in time, but I do think it's a pathway that I would like to, to look at. Um, and then another thing that I want to point out too is in the slide deck presented to us by administration and the survey, the community budget survey, it does state that overall about 84% of the respondents were in support of city service increase or maintaining what the city currently offers.
