Henry has a complicated medical history and requires attention throughout the school day. Henry has an ileostomy, which means part of his intestine has been brought through an opening in his abdomen so waste can empty into a bag outside of his body. It's a medical device that requires regular monitoring and care throughout his school day. Every 2 hours, he needs someone who understands his body, his medical equipment, and the signs that something may not be right. Our school nurse provides that care.
