From the transcript

Chalista has advocated for responsible fishery management, including but not limited to time and area restrictions for Area M. Since it has no commercial interests in Alaska's fisheries, Chalista's advocacy was pure political speech, which is entitled to the highest protection under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. Chalista merely having an opinion on a matter does not create a conflict of interest where Chalista has no commercial interest at stake and is not paying me to obtain a particular result. To that end, Chalista does not engage with me in any regulatory discussions related to any matter before the Board of Fisheries and has never advocated for or against any proposal before the board while I sat on it. Growing up in the Chilista region, my views largely align with those in the region. As such, my views largely align with those of Chilista when it comes to fisheries management.
