We don't know. If you look at the much, much smaller group of employees who are in real rural areas, they tend to be more like postmaster, postmistress. They're much less likely to leave, but there are far fewer of them.
UAA economists say federal spending drove about half of Alaska's growth since 2015 — and the state is now losing federal workers faster than most, hitting rural areas hardest.
