Vehicle recovery brings stop-and-go closures to Dalton Highway at Mile 25 Saturday
Drivers on the Dalton Highway should expect stops Saturday at Mile 25 for a vehicle recovery, according to the state's Alaska 511 traffic notice.
The work was scheduled from 10 am to 4 pm, with the highway down to one lane and intermittent closures, so drivers in both directions should expect to stop. Flaggers will be on scene, and one lane is to stay open between closures. The notice says the recovery is expected to take several hours.
Mile 25 is about 13 miles northwest of Livengood, near the start of the highway north of Fairbanks.
Alaska 511 lists the event as an accident or incident but gives no details on what happened, who is doing the recovery or whether anyone was hurt.
It's the latest of several closures on the haul road this fall. A tractor-trailer jackknifed and blocked the highway at Mile 160 Thursday night, a closure planned to end Friday morning. Since late September, Alaska 511 has also listed closures or blockages at Mile 320, near Mile 7.5, near Mile 86 and near Gobblers Knob.
Current conditions are on Alaska 511's Dalton Highway page.
