Alaska's immunization system will stop tracking TB tests after a 2027 vendor switch
Alaska's statewide immunization records system will stop tracking tuberculosis tests when the state moves it to a new software vendor in mid-2027, the Alaska Immunization Program told health care providers in its October newsletter Monday.
After the switch, clinics will no longer be able to manage TB test inventory or submit administered tests through the system, called VacTrAK. The newsletter does not say where providers should record those tests instead.
Alaska had the highest tuberculosis rate of any state in 2024, with 91 cases, or 12.3 per 100,000 people, according to the state's TB summary. Provisional figures show cases fell to 77 last year, with most in Southwest Alaska, Alaska News reported last month.
VacTrAK is the state's immunization information system. It combines the vaccines a person gets from different providers into a single record, and providers must report every vaccine they give to it within 14 days.
