Troopers reunite 3-year-old found riding bicycle alone at Glennallen gas station

A 3-year-old was found riding a bicycle alone at a Glennallen gas station on July 31, 2026, and was reunited with a parent after a concerned citizen called Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers were notified at 6:12 p.m. about the child at the HUB gas station, which sits at the junction of the Glenn and Richardson highways, according to the trooper dispatch. Investigators determined the child had ridden from a nearby campground without the parent's knowledge. Troopers contacted the parent and directed them to the child.

The dispatch listed the call as a welfare check. It was posted by B Detachment, which covers the Glenn, Richardson, Parks and Tok Cutoff highways. No charges were listed. The account comes only from the trooper dispatch, which does not include any statement from the family, the campground or the gas station.

Trooper safety guidance published by the Department of Public Safety says, "Parents and caregivers should closely supervise children when they are near roadways, parking lots, or other areas with vehicle traffic. Children can move quickly and may not recognize hazards."
