Troopers investigate death of Elim woman, 40, after reported injury

A 40-year-old Elim woman was pronounced dead at the village clinic early Saturday after a reported injury at a house, Alaska State Troopers said. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is investigating her death.

Troopers identified the woman as Lorraine M. Saccheus of Elim. A health aide reported at 12:50 a.m. on Sept. 26 that Saccheus had been injured at a house in Elim late Friday night, according to trooper dispatch AK26095942. Health aides went to her house to treat the reported injury. They took her to the clinic in Elim, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators from the bureau responded to Elim. The circumstances of her death remain under investigation by the bureau and the State Medical Examiner's Office. The dispatch does not describe the injury or say how it happened.
