Troopers arrest Fairbanks driver on DUI charge after Steese Highway stop

A driver was taken into custody early Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, after Alaska State Troopers stopped a vehicle near Steese Highway and Farmers Loop Road in Fairbanks, according to the Department of Public Safety's Daily Dispatch.

Troopers were in the area about 12:09 a.m. when they saw the vehicle driving with no taillights, no light over its license plate, and struggling to hold a single lane, according to the dispatch, case AK26090859. Troopers said the driver was operating under the influence of alcohol.

The driver refused a breath test. Alaska law treats a lawful DUI arrest as consent to that test. Troopers obtained and executed a warrant for a blood draw. He also had an active Fairbanks warrant and was taken to Fairbanks Correctional Center.

The dispatch includes no response from the driver. The charges are accusations. The driver is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
