Three UAA hockey teams become the first teams in the Hall of Fame

Three Seawolf hockey teams from the early 1990s will be the first teams ever inducted into the University of Alaska Anchorage's Hall of Fame, which has honored only individuals since it started in 2001.

The 1989-90, 1990-91 and 1991-92 squads go in alongside 19 former student-athletes and Steve Nerland, a supporter whose involvement with the program goes back to 1979. Between them, the Class of 2027 collected 61 All-America awards and 24 conference team titles, and it takes in every sport UAA fields.

"The breadth and depth of this year's class is truly aspirational for our current student-athletes," Director of Athletics Michael Bazemore said in announcing it.

The Hall had 56 inductees when UAA said last December that it would return in 2027: 38 student-athletes, six coaches, and 12 administrators and supporters. The induction is set for July 20 through 22, 2027, in Anchorage, during the university's first student-athlete reunion.
