The Yentna is a foot over flood stage, and cabins are taking water

The water forecasters warned about has arrived. Several cabins at Anglers Inn and King Point Lodges have water in them, with the Yentna River at Lake Creek measuring 21.5 feet Wednesday against a 20.5-foot flood stage. Another half foot would put water into more lodges and start reaching main lodge buildings.

The advisory for the Western Susitna Valley runs until noon Friday, and more rain is expected through Thursday.

A second advisory covers the Central Susitna Valley, where Moose Creek at Oilwell Road sits just over minor flood stage. Water starts running across the road at 16.85 feet — it was at 16.55 Wednesday morning — which would cut off the low-water crossing.

The valley has been under repeated flood advisories since mid-July. The Yentna was at 18.6 feet as recently as July 19 before climbing nearly three feet.
