State offices at 455 3rd Ave. in Fairbanks close Thursday for water shutoff
All state offices at 455 3rd Ave. in Fairbanks are closed Thursday, Oct. 22, for a planned water shutoff, according to a notice the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities sent subscribers.
The notice does not list which agencies work in the building or say when the water will return. Earlier state closure notices name a Department of Labor office in the building's Suite 150. That office closed for lack of heat on Dec. 15, 2025, and for remediation work a week later. It closed for flooding on Sept. 11, halting walk-in service for vocational rehabilitation and disability employment support.
Telework-ready employees should keep working unless their supervisors approve otherwise. Employees who protect the health and safety of Alaskans must stay on the job unless they have leave approved with their immediate supervisors. That includes certain offices in the Departments of Public Safety and Corrections, the Department of Family and Community Services and other 24-hour services.
Employees should check alaska.gov regularly. The state plans to post updates throughout the day.
