State seeks Made in Alaska merchandise maker, no track record required

A small Alaska maker with no manufacturing track record can bid to make the state's Made in Alaska merchandise. Bids are due 1 p.m. Alaska time Wednesday, Sept. 30, and will be opened publicly that day.

The contract, for apparel and merchandise carrying the Made in Alaska bear logo, is capped at $15,000; bids above that are rejected as non-responsive, set aside unread.

Bidders need a Made in Alaska permit, but the notice says it need only be obtained by the close of bidding on Sept. 30. The permit costs $25 per product line, up to $75 annually, and requires products be at least 51 percent produced in Alaska.

The Division of Community and Regional Affairs, in the Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development, issued invitation to bid ITB 270000003, awarded on price rather than a scored proposal.
