A month after naming a sole finalist, Sitka interviews two other administrator candidates Friday

Sitka could have a new municipal administrator by the end of the week, and neither candidate is the finalist the city introduced last month.

The Assembly voted 6-0 on July 14 to bring Jenny Alber to Sitka as the sole finalist, after Mayor Steven Eisenbeisz said a continued search had produced no other applicants. She met residents at community receptions at Harrigan Centennial Hall on July 26 and 27. Friday's agenda does not address the status of that earlier search.

The City and Borough of Sitka Assembly is set to interview two candidates at a special meeting Friday, Aug. 21, and a third agenda item allows the Assembly to make a decision the same night. Jeremy Marshall is scheduled to interview by Zoom at 5 p.m. and Gerri Cotter at 6:10 p.m. The meeting begins at 5 p.m. in Assembly Chambers at 330 Harbor Drive. The final business item allows the Assembly to discuss, direct or decide on the interviews, with a possible executive session.

The position runs day-to-day municipal operations and the city's departments. The city interviewed applicants for it in April. The Assembly then scheduled executive sessions to screen applicants at its June 23, July 14 and Aug. 11 meetings, and took up the recruitment process itself on July 28.
