Roald Amundsen brings 530 passengers to Kodiak on August 2

The Roald Amundsen is scheduled to dock in Kodiak on Sunday, August 2, bringing 530 passengers plus crew for a nine-hour port call, according to an event listing posted by Discover Kodiak.

The ship arrives at 10 a.m. and departs at 7 p.m. Discover Kodiak posted a welcome notice inviting visitors to explore historic downtown, local restaurants and shops, and fishing heritage sites.

The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly approved a $75,000 annual contract with Discover Kodiak, the borough's destination marketing organization, at its July 16 regular meeting. Borough Manager Amy Williams described the agreement at that session. "This is an annual contract with the Kodiak Island Convention and Visitors Bureau, doing business as Discover Kodiak, to promote Kodiak Island as a tourist destination and to promote local businesses in support of tourism activities," Williams said. "The assembly approved $75,000 for these services in the fiscal year 2027 budget, and that is exactly how much the contract is for."
