Scott Robb wins the Alaska State Fair's 30th giant cabbage weigh-off

Scott Robb of Palmer won the Alaska State Fair's 30th Giant Cabbage Weigh-Off on Sept. 4, 2026, with a 122.7-pound cabbage. He took home the $1,000 first prize. Neither figure could be confirmed against a fair record.

The fair's own 2026 competitive results page has not been filled in. Its Giant Cabbage Weigh-Off table carries columns for prize, weight, name and hometown and no rows, and 33 result tables on the page are empty, including the one for this year's 20th Great Pumpkin Weigh-Off.

The fair's Giant Fruit & Vegetable Records page does carry weights, hometowns and years, including Robb's 138.25-pound green cabbage from 2012, still marked as the current world record.

Sen. Scott Kawasaki cited that mark to the Senate State Affairs Committee in Juneau on May 14, arguing for a state vegetable. "The current Guinness World Record for the largest cabbage ever grown belongs to a 138¼-pound giant cabbage grown in Palmer," Kawasaki said.

The weigh-off ran at 6 p.m. at Craig Taylor Farm Exhibits, with more than $2,000 in prizes across the top 20 places. The fair runs through Sept. 7.
