Murkowski and Sullivan split on DACA votes in Senate budget debate

Alaska's two Republican senators split on two DACA-related amendments during Senate budget votes Friday. Lisa Murkowski voted to support DACA application processing and protections for DACA recipients. Dan Sullivan opposed them.

Murkowski voted yes on Durbin Amendment No. 5806, which sought to repurpose Immigration and Customs Enforcement funds for DACA application processing and prohibit arrests or deportations of DACA recipients. The motion failed 48-51. She voted yes on Gallego Amendment No. 5813, which would have funded timely adjudication of DACA renewal applications. That measure failed 47-52. Sullivan voted no on both.

The split follows a pattern from the previous week, when the senators voted opposite ways on an immigration enforcement bill that passed 52-47.
