MEA members can speak to the board Monday at 4 p.m. in Palmer

Matanuska Electric Association members get three minutes each to address the co-op board about rates or service. The Board of Directors meeting is Monday, Sept. 14, at 4 p.m. at MEA's Palmer headquarters, 163 E. Industrial Way.

Members may attend in person or register for Zoom to receive the link and sign up to speak during "Persons to be Heard."

"This portion is held at the beginning of the meeting to ensure members' voices are heard early in the agenda," MEA said in its notice.

The meeting falls in a quarter of higher bills. MEA's Cost of Power Adjustment rose from $0.07879 to $0.10195 per kilowatt-hour for the third quarter, adding about $14.53 a month for a typical member using 623 kilowatt-hours. Base rates did not change.

MEA has told legislators bills could rise roughly 5% a year for three years, with its Hilcorp gas contract expiring in April 2029.
