Kodiak Island Borough property tax deadline has passed, and a 10% penalty now applies
Kodiak Island Borough property owners who missed Thursday's deadline for full 2026 property tax payments now face a 10% penalty on what they owe, plus 1% monthly interest on late balances.
The Oct. 15 deadline covered lump-sum payers and anyone who missed the Aug. 17 first-half payment, according to the borough's Property Tax Payment Reminder.
Owners who paid their first half on time have one more date. Because Nov. 15 falls on a Sunday, the second half is due Nov. 16, Borough Manager Aimee Williams said at the Assembly's Oct. 15 meeting.
Owners unsure of their balance can call the Finance Department at 907-486-9324. Payments can be made online at www.kodiakak.us, in person at the Borough Cashier at 710 Mill Bay Road from 8 am to 5 pm, or by mail. Mailed envelopes should be hand canceled at the post office to get a timely date stamp.
