The state's draft transportation program lists about $2.6 million through 2030 for the Kodiak Short Trail, and the Kodiak Island Borough Parks and Recreation Committee will discuss that listing when it meets Tuesday at 11 am. No vote is scheduled.

The project is a paved path of about 10 miles along Rezanof Drive, about 8 feet wide and separated from the road, built in five segments between mileposts 4.65 and 14.53, according to the committee's meeting packet. The draft forecasts the project's full cost at about $28 million, with about $25.4 million of that after 2030.

Federal law requires Alaska to have a Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, known as the STIP, to use federal transportation funding, according to the state's STIP document.

Sandra West of Island Trails Network told the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly on Oct. 1 that the trail had made the draft.

The state transportation department opened the draft 2027-2030 STIP for public comment Sept. 14. Comment closes Oct. 29.
