Klondike Highway closes overnight near Skagway for rockfall work

The Klondike Highway is closed to all traffic overnight near Skagway while crews stabilize the rock slopes above it. The full closure, between mileposts 4.8 and 5.4, runs 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday — timed to when the U.S. border station is shut anyway.

The road stays passable earlier in the evening: expect single-lane flagging and delays up to 10 minutes from 7 to 11 p.m. The pull-off at Milepost 5.0 is closed for the duration of the project, and highway message boards will flag closures ahead. Updates are at sgyrockfall.com.
