Houston certifies election, swears in Johansen and Brasel for new terms
The Houston City Council voted unanimously Monday to certify the results of the Oct. 6 city election. Returning members Lisa Johansen and Jeff Brasel then took the oath of office for new three-year terms.
Johansen won Seat A, where she faced Cory Rausch, and Brasel ran unopposed for Seat B, according to the city's 2026 candidate list. Both terms run through October 2029.
"We had just about 5% of people who came out and voted," Johansen said during member comments, and she thanked those who did. She said she keeps an open door for residents, whether they agree with her or not.
Brasel, the deputy mayor, thanked election staff, volunteers and voters, and said he would continue to try to do his best.
The mayor said the borough and Lounsbury will present a 35% design for the King Arthur project at the Oct. 29 planning and zoning meeting, and that the design will be posted this week. The council holds a special meeting next Monday.
