Forest Service seeks a small business to dry-dock and repair Wrangell's Misty barge
The U.S. Forest Service wants a small business to haul out, paint and repair the Wrangell Ranger District's Misty barge. Offers are due Oct. 30.
The solicitation is set aside entirely for small businesses, and the agency plans a fixed-price contract. The work would run Nov. 10 through April 1, 2027, and covers haul out and lay days, exterior hull painting and repairs, deck work, interior hull painting and bilge tank cleaning.
Offers must include separate technical capability, past performance and price submissions. Technical plans need a draft schedule with task dates and the foremen responsible, plus primary and alternate haul-out dates. Price is not formally scored but is the main factor in choosing the winner.
An earlier Forest Service towing solicitation in June, later amended to add Wrangell Harbor as an option, describes the Misty as a 90-ton steel barge, 61 by 26 feet, with a two-story barracks.
Questions are due Oct. 23, with answers posted on SAM.gov by Oct. 27. No site visit is scheduled.
