Fairbanks: Yankovich Road closed through June 22 for reconstruction

Yankovich Road between Dalton Trail and Seismic Road is closed through June 22 as part of a reconstruction project addressing safety and operational deficiencies for vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists in the Miller Hill area. Road crews are active Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Motorists should expect flagger and pilot car operations, with delays of up to 20 minutes. The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is reconstructing the east-west corridor and building a separated path for pedestrians and bicyclists. The road serves local residences and the University of Alaska Fairbanks Large Animal Research Station.

The project will widen Yankovich Road to 30 feet with 10-foot travel lanes and 5-foot shoulders. Miller Hill Road already has a separated bike path along its east side. The Yankovich work will extend non-motorized access through the corridor.
