Palmer-Fishhook Road closes at Trunk for 19 days starting June 15

Palmer-Fishhook Road will close at the Trunk Road intersection for 19 days starting June 15. The closure runs through July 3 while crews build a roundabout at the intersection. The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities announced the closure as part of a Highway Safety Improvement Program project.

Detour routes will be posted. Motorists should follow the detour signs or use alternate routes during the closure period. Construction crews will work seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout the closure. Flaggers will direct traffic around active work zones.

The department's project FAQ says local access to homes and businesses will remain open throughout construction. The FAQ documents construction could continue through summer 2026, with possible minor wrap-up work in spring 2027.
