Fairbanks pushes Mayor O'Neall's budget town hall to Nov. 10, citing slick roads
The City of Fairbanks postponed Mayor Mindy O'Neall's budget town hall, set for Tuesday, Oct. 20, and rescheduled it for Nov. 10.
The new session runs from 5:30 to 7 pm, the same hours planned for the original date at the Noel Wien Library. The city's flyer for the new date lists those hours but does not yet name a location.
The town hall is a chance for residents to learn about the city budget and share their thoughts on services they would like the city to offer.
The city cited inclement weather. Its notice said officials wanted everyone to have a chance to participate and wanted residents and staff to be safe on the slick roads.
The National Weather Service's winter weather advisory forecast 3 to 7 inches of snow for Fairbanks and warned that travel could be very difficult.
The Fairbanks City Council approves the city budget and sets the mill rate, the city's property tax rate, according to the city's council page.
