A Fairbanks company wants the state's permission to pump up to 30 acre-feet of water a year from a well, nearly 10 million gallons, for dust control and other work.

Aurora Energy Services, LLC would use the water from April through November for dust control, hydroseeding, compaction and industrial use, according to an Oct. 29 public notice from the Alaska Department of Natural Resources. At the full amount, that averages about 40,000 gallons a day over the season.

The notice doesn't name a project. It describes the location by three sections of land near Fairbanks.

Written comments are due by 5 pm Nov. 13 to the department's Water Resources Section in Fairbanks. Formal objections go to the commissioner's office within 15 days of the notice, and objectors must show how their rights or the public interest would be harmed.
