FAA proposes $165,000 fine against Alaska Airlines over intoxicated passengers
The Federal Aviation Administration proposed a $165,000 civil penalty against Alaska Airlines on Tuesday for allegedly allowing intoxicated passengers to board 11 flights over one year.
The alleged violations occurred between February 2024 and February 2025, the FAA said.
Federal aviation rules prohibit airlines from allowing anyone who appears to be intoxicated to board an aircraft.
The FAA did not identify the routes, airports or passengers involved in its public notice.
Alaska Airlines has 30 days after receiving the enforcement letter to respond. The carrier may pay the fine, negotiate with the FAA, or request a hearing.
