FAA awards $89,039 for long-term monitoring at Johnstone Point

The FAA awarded an $89,039 contract to Brice Solutions, LLC of Anchorage on Aug. 24 for long-term environmental monitoring at Johnstone Point in Prince William Sound, through April 30, 2028. Three firms bid; it was competed, not sole-sourced.

The award, contract 697DCK26P00098, describes the work only as "Johnstone Point long term monitoring per statement of work," without specifying standards or sampling frequency, though the FAA codes it as remediation services. The Forest Service, which manages the Chugach National Forest, says the FAA has been cleaning up spilled diesel and a buried dump site there and installing groundwater monitoring wells.

Johnstone Point Airport is owned by the U.S. Department of Transportation through the FAA, listed as private use only, and managed from Cordova. Brice Solutions, an Anchorage-based ANC 8(a) firm, previously developed a Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plan there. This is one of six FAA environmental awards to the firm in August.
