Public Comment Deadline: APMA J20245690 Hardrock Exploration Plan of Operations Extension Request

About this event

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land and Water, has received a request from Constantine Mining, LLC and Constantine North, Inc. to extend the expiration date of their Plan of Operations Approval for the Palmer Project. The request specifically concerns exploration activities on 16 state mining claims located near Glacier Creek, Haines, in the Juneau Mining District. The applicants are seeking to move the current expiration date of December 31, 2028, to December 31, 2033. The DNR emphasizes that this extension request is limited solely to the timeline for previously approved activities on these 16 state claims. The request does not apply to the broader Palmer Project, adjacent federal mining claims, or Mental Health Trust lands, nor does it propose any changes to the scope of work or existing permit conditions. The DNR is considering this request under 11 AAC 86.800(d). The agency is not reopening the underlying plan of operations or previous decision documents for review. Public comments regarding the extension are being accepted until November 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. AST, and should be directed to Dave Charron at the Fairbanks Mine Permitting Office.
