Draft Budget Amendments Due
About this event
The Office of the Municipal Clerk has issued a guide for Assembly members to submit budget amendments for the FY27 fiscal year. The process requires members to submit draft amendments by November 4 for the November 6 worksession, with final amendments due by November 11 for the November 18 Assembly meeting. Submissions can be made via an online form or by emailing the Assembly Budget Analyst.
Budget amendments must include detailed descriptions of the impact on public services and department operations, identify the responsible party for implementation, and define success metrics. The guide mandates that funding changes—whether increases, decreases, or net-zero adjustments—must be clearly specified, including whether the funding is one-time or recurring. If a funding source for an increase is unknown, members are instructed to use "under tax capacity" as a placeholder until the final deadline.
The document outlines best practices, including coordinating with the Assembly Budget Analyst, consulting with departments on staff capacity, and verifying IGC impacts with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Members are also directed to align their proposals with existing policy documents, such as the Assembly Housing Action Plan, the Alcohol Tax Strategic Plan, and various Assembly Resolutions (AR) and Assembly Informational Memorandums (AIM) listed as reference material.
