Driver critical after fiery solo crash closes Richardson Hwy

A vehicle fire left a driver in critical condition and closed the Richardson Highway in both directions for about two and a half hours after a solo crash at milepost 210 on Sunday morning, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers received the report at 8:36 am on June 28. They arrived to find a single-vehicle crash, with the vehicle burning and the adult male driver in critical condition. He was transported to a local area hospital. His identity has not been released.

The highway was closed in both directions while troopers managed the scene and reopened at 11:03 am.

The trooper unit covering Interior Alaska, is investigating the cause of the crash. No further details have been released.
