Disney Cruise Line locks in Icy Strait Point calls through 2041
A 15-year docking agreement between Huna Totem Corporation and Disney Cruise Line commits one Disney vessel per week to Icy Strait Point through at least 2041 and sets a minimum annual passenger guarantee, giving Hoonah's largest employer a long-term contractual commitment from one of its key cruise partners.
Huna Totem Corporation, formed under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971 and representing more than 1,850 Alaska Native shareholders, developed Icy Strait Point in 2004 and is Hoonah's single largest employer. The agreement secures preferential docking priority for one Disney vessel each week and includes a minimum annual passenger guarantee, supporting future Alaska sailings. Situated on the shores of Hoonah, Icy Strait Point is an Indigenous-owned destination offering visitors an authentic connection to Huna Tlingit culture alongside wildlife viewing and outdoor recreation.
"Disney Cruise Line has been an important part of the Icy Strait Point story for nearly a decade, and we're grateful to build on that relationship through this agreement," said Howard Sherman, Huna Totem Tourism Group President. "Each Disney Cruise Line visit helps support local jobs, businesses and economic opportunity in Hoonah while creating meaningful connections between guests and the people who call this place home."
The agreement comes as Disney expanded its Alaska presence in 2026 to two ships, with seven-night itineraries aboard the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder already calling at Icy Strait Point. "Icy Strait Point has been a valued part of our Alaska itineraries for nearly a decade, offering Disney Cruise Line guests an opportunity to experience the natural beauty, wildlife and rich cultural heritage of Hoonah and the broader Southeast Alaska region," said Jose Fernandez, Vice President of Port Strategy, Development and Operations at Disney Cruise Line. "This agreement will help ensure our guests can continue to enjoy the unique experiences that have made Icy Strait Point a fan-favorite destination."
Disney plans to add five ships to its fleet by 2031. In recent years, Disney Cruise Line has also supported community-led initiatives throughout Southeast Alaska focused on food security, youth development and environmental stewardship. Huna Totem has also expanded port operations to Klawock and Whittier.
