Discover Kodiak opens its 2027 Visitor Guide photo contest, with entries due Oct. 1
Discover Kodiak opened entries Aug. 17 for its 2027 Visitor Guide Photo Contest. Entries close Oct. 1, the contest page says, with winners announced Oct. 19. Each of seven categories carries a $200 prize, open to professionals and amateurs.
The categories are Kodiak Brown Bear, Commercial Fishing, Coast Guard, Landscape, Wildlife, Food & Drink and Outdoor Adventures. Photos must be taken in the Kodiak Archipelago, or in Katmai National Park on an excursion with a Discover Kodiak member business. Winning photos may appear in the guide.
Entries need the photographer's name, contact information, a description of each image and a signed release form. Submissions go to [email protected], by Dropbox link, or in person at 100 E. Marine Way, Suite 200 in Kodiak.
The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly funds the work through an annual destination marketing contract that includes producing the guide. Borough Manager Aimee Williams described it at a July 9 work session; the assembly approved it unanimously July 16 at $75,000.
